Forward-looking measures have already been taken

by the Chinese monetary authority, earlier than other major central banks, based on the evaluation on macroeconomic conditions and the exter

nal environment. Policy fine-tuning will send positive signals to the market and support financial resilience, Zhang said.

This year, the remarkable change in tone from the world’s major central banks is shifting into a monet

ary easing cycle, and policies from the Chinese central bank are headed in the same direction, Zhang added.

A recent research note from Goldman Sachs forecast China’s credit growth to rise in January as commercial banks may be “si

gnificantly more aggressive than before” with encouragement from the easing policy. With the PBOC scheduled to

release more data this week, the trend may be reflected in faster growth of new yuan loans and the broad money supply.

Amid a good fall of snow, which Chinese traditionally believe promises a year of harvest and

prosperity, Chinese and United States top officials started two days of talks in Beijing on Thursday.

Airbus to scrap production of A380 superjumboys its prowe

TOULOUSE – Europe’s Airbus announced plans to scrap production of the A380 superjumbo on Thursd

ay, abandoning its dream of dominating the skies with a cruiseliner for the 21st century after years of lacklustre sales.

The world’s largest airliner, with two decks of spacious cabins a

nd room for 544 people in standard layout, was designed to challenge Boeing’s legendary 747

but failed to take hold as airlines backed a new generation of smaller, more nimble jets.

Airbus said in a statement that the last A380 would be delivered in 2021.

Confirming a shake-up first reported by Reuters, it said Emirates – the largest A380 cust

omer – had decided to reduce its orders for the iconic superjumbo and order a total of 70 of the smaller A350 and A330neo models.

The European company said it would enter talks with unions in coming weeks over the 3,000-3,500 jobs potentially affected.

Airbus will produce 17 more of the planes including 14 for Emirates and 3 for Japanese airline ANA.

As part of the restructuring, Emirates placed a new order for 40 A330-900neo jets an

d 30 A350-900 aircraft, partially restoring a purchase of A350 aircraft which it cancelled in

Most US media outlets have congratulated China for landi

ing a probe on the far side of the moon. For instance, Jim Bridenstine, NASA administrator, took

to Twitter to describe the mission as “a first for humanity and an impressive accomplishment”. China, on it

s part, said that scientists from the two communicated closely before and during the Chang’e-4 launch process.

While the US side informed Chinese scientists about its satellites in orbit around the moon, Chi

na shared with the US scientists the longitude, latitude and timing of Chang’e-4’s landing. The int

eraction was in sharp contrast to the tense relations between the two sides in other areas of science and technology. W

hich means there is huge room for cooperation between the US and China in space exploration.

Cooperation more important in spaceina have both made great progress in

Although the US and Ch space technologies, they are still in the primitive sta

ge of developing and using space. As of today, neither country is capable of building a new permanent sta

tion in space, let alone building one on the moon. But through cooperation and collaboration, which will reduce the cost of

space development for both countries, the US and China can aim at more ambitious targets.

Global economic growth entering slowdown growth in

The global economy is projected to grow at 2.6 percent between 2020 and 2035 and enter a low

-speed growth period, Economic Daily reported citing the Development Research Center of the State Council.

Considering changes in major factors such as technology, urbanization, population and environment, global eco

nomic growth is expected to experience a declining trend with slower growth rate long-term, the center said.

Developed economies’ overall growth is predicted to slow down further to about 1.7 percent — below t

he average growth rate over the past 50 years — while for developing countries, the annual average growth rate is expected to be 4.9 percent.

Over the next 15 years, some developing countries will continue their urbanization process. A new round of tec

hnology revolution and urbanization still carries potential for economic growth in some developing countries.

The global urbanization rate is expected to be 61.7 percent by 2035, becoming a key driver for future growth, the center asserted.
